Puzzle #10

We picked up a notebook at Lush Dive in Oslo. Several pages featured lists of what seemed to be domain names.

The code wheel ended up being important for this one. The full solution is on our What We Know page.

Puzzle #9

We picked up a notebook at Oblation Papers & Press in Portland. Each of eight pages showed a rough sketch in landscape form, along with a day of the week.

The full solution is on our What We Know page.

Puzzle #8

We picked up a notebook at The Echo Park Time Travel Mart in LA. On the inside cover it showed a phone number, registered to Springfield MA. Two pages featured a list of strange nicknames.

This puzzle ended up requiring a different person call for each name listed on the page, over the course of a day, and it’s unlikely that phone number is still be working anymore. So here are the list of responses we got, in the same order as the notebook above:

  • What causes your huge ego to be so tough?
  • Just poultry here, nothing else.
  • The felines may find fault me with me, laugh about my girl's weight.
  • Expressions of my feelings are not really my thing.
  • Don't get caught weeping in daylight.
  • Are you my girl or no?
  • If you ever travel to the Big Easy.
  • I'm about to relate a tale about two kids on a mound.
  • It's 5AM and I can't feel ok.
  • Then she acts all inappropriately.
  • I went out with my sweetheart yesterday evening.
  • I gave you small porker and you wanted a big one.
  • Girls and boys, the rhythmic tush society is please to offer you…
  • Occasionally she does right by me.
  • About to relate a tale from long ago.
  • I put you in my house when you were exhausted.
  • She isn't too tiny and isn't too large.
  • I'm an extremely Republican guy.

Puzzle #7

We picked up a notebook at Annie's Blue Ribbon General Store in Brooklyn. On the inside cover it said “Will S.” as the owner. Each page contained a rhyming toast to someone, and the last word was precisely cut out in regular rectangles. Lower on each page was a jagged cutout. In order, there were 4 toasts to Peter, 4 toasts to Alan, 4 toasts to Sophia.

The notebooks and missing words lined up with the grids of the New York Times crossword of December 4th, 5th and 6th. (Which were authored by Peter Gordon, Alan Arbesfeld, and Sophia Maymudes.) When aligned properly, each page revealed, in the jagged hole, a single clue. Finding the extraction from that point proved a lot trickier…

The answer is on our What We Know page.

Puzzle #6

The code in the last video solved to LONE CHIMNEY 75201, in Dallas. One of our agents said “The fanatic is always concealing a secret doubt.” (from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and was given the notebook above.

Agent HQ devour this puzzle in under 15 minutes. The answer is on our What We Know page.

Puzzle #5

The code in the last video solved to CRIMINAL RECORDS 30307. One of our agents said “In my business, you prepare for the unexpected.” (from James Bond) and was given a notebook with this scoresheet in it.

Agent HQ quickly realized this was a Scrabble scoresheet, and solving it required recreating the board. Figuring out the extraction after that, however, was trickier. The answer is on our What We Know page.

Puzzle #4

The code in the last video solved to DOMESTICA 50309. One of our agents said “There are as many ways to live in this world as there are people in this world.” (a quote from Harriet the Spy) and was given a notebook with these names in it.

The agents working in HQ made quick work of this one, once a particular connection was found. Log into our Slack and scroll back to watch the reveal. The answer is on our What We Know page.
